Dustless Blasting

People choose dustless sandblasting because you can blast faster with much less mess. Dustless blasting Baton Rouge also uses vapor mixed with abrasives allowing for less media consumption. All of this combines for an efficient and more affordable option. Dustless sandblasting is great for boat and car blasting.

Shot Blasting

Shot blasting uses a blasting technique through mechanical or centrifugal force. Instead of tradition sandblasting, shot blasting uses a pressurized system that uses a wheel to accelerate shot-like material and blast it against a surface. It’s very aggressive so should only be used on larger and more difficult objects.

Soda Blasting

Soda blasting Baton Rouge is more of a gentle technique than typical sandblasting. Soda blasting can be used to either smooth a surface or remove contaminant off of a surface. In soda blasting, sodium bicarbonate is used making it a great abrasive for chrome, plastics, and sometimes glass. It can also be used as a deodorizer, cleaning mold and smoke fires.

Sandblasting Baton Rouge FAQs

What is Sandblasting?

Sandbasting refers to the process of high pressure propulsion of abrasives against a surface. It is also known as abrasive blasting and the terms are used interchangeably. There are a few reasons why someone would need to sandblast a surface:

  1. Remove unwanted coatings off of a surface
  2. Smooth a rough surface
  3. Roughen a smooth surface
  4. Shape a surface

How much is sandblasting?

We charge by the hour. The rate depends on the needs of the project. Things to consider are:

  • Abrasive material
  • Sandblasting technique (dustless, shot blasting, soda blasting, etc.)
  • Location (we are local, but can travel to your location. Longer distances may incur extra fees)
  • Type of location (residential blasting or industrial )
  • Amount of abrasion material needed (job scale)
  • And some other factors . .

Which abrasive material is best?

There is no “one abrasive fits all” solution. Different types of blasting materials, referred to as media blasting, are needed dependent on the project and the surface for the right finish.

Sand as an abrasive is not recommended for most materials because it is very expensive, so we have turned to much more efficient solutions.

The following are the different types of materials we use:

PLASTICS:

Plastics are best used for mold cleaning, blasting other plastic parts, or when you don’t want to remove the substrate material.

Uses: Plastics are commonly used on cars, boats, planes, electronics, and other industrial applications.

GLASS BEADS:

Glass is a great blasting media to use for surfaces that need a softer brighter finish. It produces a bright, satin matte type finish. Crushed glass is typically used for stripping applications.

Uses: Stainless steel projects

SILICON CARBIDE:

This is the strongest material available and is great for tough surfaces that need cleared. It’s a very aggressive and hard abrasive used for fast cutting applications and deep etching.

Uses: Cutting stone, glass and other heavy duty blast cutting. Also used for polishing and on bonded abrasive tools.

ALUMINUM OXIDE:

Aluminum oxide is extremely hard and tough. It’s a sharp, angular and long lasting media

Uses: Glass, granite, marble, steel, etc. used for fast etching and profiling.

STEEL SHOT AND GRIT:

Steel is cost-effective to other abrasives because of how hard and tough and recyclable it is.

Uses: for texturing a surface as prep for a final coating, or can be used to harden (or peen) something.

WALNUT SHELLS & Corn Cobs:

Walnut shells are hard crushed walnut shells used for blast cleaning and polishing softer surfaces that could be damaged if harsher abrasives were used.

Corn cobs are a grain abrasive that are made from crushing a corn cob into various grit sizes. It is soft with very low abrasions and ideal for cleaning, burnishing, de-flashing, and deburring.

Uses: used on soft metals, fiberglass, wood, plastic and stone. It can also be used as a polisher for jewelry, engine parts, fiberglass, cutlery, or removing debris or graffiti. Environmentally safe.
